Congratulations to the St. Louis area's very own Zac Freudenburg. Finishing 19th overall, on a less then optimal day with a time of 2:21:40, Zac qualified for the Olympic Marathon Trials at the Boston Marathon April 16.

10/21 Group Run at Howell Island Conservation Area
Saturday, October 21 at 8:00AM a large group of runners will be meeting at Howell Island Conservation Area for a bit of an exploratory run. It's a place that many have heard of, some have a few details about, but nobody seems to have run there yet so we're going out to take a look.
Currently it looks like a minimum of 15 runners and an optimistic group of 30 has already confirmed. Various distances will be covered from a low of 7 miles to a high of 14 so come on out and add to our group. The more the merrier.
Directions can be found via the
link on the Howell Island page.

"I think these races are one of the running world's best kept secrets. With childhood obesity on the rise how great is it for a kid to get to run a race, win a trophy, get a t-shirt all for about the cost of a movie ticket?" - Betsy Leeker
If you're just now hitting my site today after reading the article on stltoday.com , I thought you might be interested to see what I looked like before as they only included it in the hard copy Post Dispatch. This was the photo Lori mentioned in the article taken at a wedding I attended Memorial Day weekend 2004.
...and then...
Big updates to the Upcoming Events calendar today. A lot of new races and updated contact information on existing ones was added. I've also set up categories for race distances, so you can now sort races of a particular distances.
For instance, if you're looking for a 5k at the end of November, just head to November on the calendar and choose 5k from the drop down.

Apart from the obvious negative that it is asphalt, I visited Ted Jones Trail today and can't say enough good things about it. It's like a shorter sibling of Grant's Trail. If you're in North County, or looking for a place to run fast without obstructions, this is your spot!
Additions to Local Running Spots
I've been working diligently in my spare time to get more of the local running spots up. On each page you will now find a
link to exact GPS coordinates of the listed trailheads.
